Arise
Our first project, Arise, is based on the remarkable true story about a recovering drug addict whose tragic car accident in rural Tennessee leads to him crawling up courthouse steps to face minor driving violations. When the judge knowingly doesn’t hear his case and the addict is forced to come back, he refuses to crawl a second time, is thrown in jail and this once simple case transforms into the addict and a small town lawyer becoming the unwanted leaders trying to save the rights of millions of people with disabilities across the country. The above is a preview of when the addict and lawyer first meet.
Disability is an issue that directly affects over one-quarter of all adults in the United States. Everyone probably either has or knows someone with a disability. And yet people with disabilities are often made to live in a world not designed for them.
